INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Enhance Your Knowledge Base and Skills
The Douglas Center offers internship opportunities tailored for Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Social Work and Counseling programs. Our internships provide hands-on experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as mental health issues. These opportunities are designed to deepen understanding and skills in serving both populations.
Interns engage in diverse responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Case management
- Group counseling
- Program development
- Intake processes
- Documentation
Each intern receives mentorship from a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) supervisor, fostering professional growth and development throughout the internship.
Since its inception in January 2020, our internship program has hosted numerous students who have contributed significantly to our community. Our supervisor’s dedication and excellence have been recognized with awards from three universities and acknowledged by a fourth.
We collaborate with a growing number of universities, currently including Loyola University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Northeastern University, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Dominican University, and Capella University. We welcome undergraduate students, as well as first and second year Master’s students to apply for these enriching internship opportunities.
