Season of Giving

12/20/18

Ho! Ho! Ho! Holiday Magic is in the air….

Our “elves” shared the holiday spirit within the community this week. Their skills were helpful to fold, hang and organize clothing for Niles Township Community Clothing Closet. The community partnership serves families in Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove and, Lincolnwood by providing appropriate clothing to families in need – from coats to shirts, pants to underwear and socks!

Local social workers refer families in need to the clothing store, located in the St Paul’s Lutheran Church. The families are invited to make an appointment to shop for the basics – underwear, socks, coats and outfits appropriate for school.

Besides volunteering, The Douglas Center brought 52 pairs of brand new socks to be donated Clothing Closet to help the effort.

Good practice for a great cause

This little act of kindness will be perpetuated into the new year. Beginning in January, participants from each of our programs will go once a week to give back to the community and practice their job skills, like folding, organizing and sorting.

’tis the season of giving, but community and goodness is always in season.
